Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and science of healthy leaving. The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘yuza’ means to join or to yoke or to unite.

Ancient sage Patanjali formulated eight-fold principles of Yoga in his book “Patanjali Yoga Sutras”. These eight principles of Yoga are ‘Yama’, ‘Niyam’, ‘Asanas’, ‘Pranayams’, ‘Pratyahar’, ‘Dharana’, ‘Dhyan’, and ‘Samadhi’. There are many benefits of practicing yoga regularly on the basis of its principles. Yoga improves flexibility and strength. It stretches our muscles and hence makes flexible. There are many Yogasanas in yoga science. Different Yogasanas provides exercises to the different parts of our body. Yoga improves our sleeping condition and relieves us from stress and tension. It also cures pains of our body by practicing prescriptive Yogasanas. Besides, yoga reduces negative emotions and it gives us more confidence with positive vibes.

To sum up, Yoga is essential for our holistic development. Therefore, we should practise yoga daily in a regular basis.
